Bioterrorism Planning

Broadly defined, bioterrorism refers to the use of biological agents such as anthrax, smallpox, botulism, and plague in an act of terrorism. With today's intense political climate and technological advances, the threat of biological warfare in the U.S. is more real than ever.

A successful defense against bioterrorism begins with a sound plan for general disaster preparedness. Once an organization has achieved this, Clas Consulting can help them plan for the unique challenges posed by a bioterrorist event. The goal of Bioterrorism Planning is to establish and maintain all-hazards response capabilities critical to protecting the population during a public health crisis.

Our comprehensive approach addresses all aspects of Bioterrorism Planning, including:

  • Reducing a community’s vulnerability to an act of bioterrorism
  • Learning how to quickly detect an act of bioterrorism
  • Developing a critical emergency response and public health infrastructure to respond to an act of bioterrorism in the first 48 hours
  • Responding to a public health crisis through timely patient treatment, medication and mass distribution of preventive vaccines
  • Controlling a disease outbreak and preventing further infection
  • Keeping the public informed during a bioterrorism-related health crisis
  • Recovering successfully from a bioterrorist act

Clas Consulting also assists clients in identifying and obtaining federal funding for the establishment of Bioterrorism Planning programs.
