August 3, 2007 - President Bush signed into law the “Implementing Recommendations of the 9/11 Commission Act of 2007” , also referred to as H.R. 1 and Public Law 110-53.This legislation builds upon the considerable progress made in strengthening defenses and protecting Americans since the attacks of September 11, 2001. Within this law is Title IX -Private Sector Preparedness which Establishes a voluntary certification program to assess whether private entities comply with voluntary preparedness standards.
